Indiana man falls to death from hotel balcony in Michigan

ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A 38-year-old Indiana man fell to his death from a fifth-story hotel balcony in St. Joseph, Mich., authorities said.

The man fell from at the Silver Beach Hotel about 8:45 p.m. local time Saturday, WBND-TV, South Bend, Ind., reported. The victim, whose name had not been released, was pronounced dead at a city hospital about 45 minutes later.

Investigators said they believed alcohol may have been a factor but where still gathering information, the TV station said.

Silver Beach Hotel management said in a release that they are deeply saddened by the accident and noted the victim had been a regular guest at the hotel.
