RANCHOS PALOS VERDES, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating how a small plane crashed upside down on a beach Friday in Palos Verdes beach, Calif., officials said.
FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer said the crash occurred in the Portuguese Bend area just before noon, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The solo pilot of the Piper PA-18 Super Cub, which witnesses said had been "towing an advertising banner," was "alert and talking," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said.
The National Transportation Safety Board was expected to release a preliminary report in a few weeks, the newspaper said.
