Todd Chance, who was 45, had been shot multiple times and his death was ruled a homicide.

Leslie Chance had been away from her office at Fairview Elementary School this week on bereavement leave. Psychologists were assigned to the school Friday, and Greenfield Union School District official Ken Chichester said there were "a lot of emotions, a lot of tears, a lot of confusion" at the school, the Times reported.

Leslie Chance is in her third year as principal at the school.
