7-magnitude earthquake in Pacific Ocean, south of Alaska

ADAK, Alaska, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A 7-magnitude earthquake struck Friday morning in the Pacific Ocean, south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The earthquake was centered 91 kilometers (57 miles) southeast of the Aleutian Islands' city of Adak, the westernmost city in the United States and the southernmost in Alaska, at a depth of 34 kilometers (21 miles), USGS said.
