Texas man, 72, guilty of child porn possession

GALVESTON, Texas, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Galveston, Texas, federal jury convicted Paul Roetcisoender, 72, for distribution and possession of child pornography, court records state.

The jury returned a guilty verdict Tuesday after a two-week trial and 2 hours of deliberation, a statement from U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson said.

Roetcisoender, of Pearland, Texas, was arrested in November 2012. A Pearland police detective testified he found several examples of online child pornography that were later traced to the defendant's computer, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday.

Roetcisoender admitted viewing child pornography since the 1990s, and more than 2,000 videos and 100,000 images of child pornography were found on equipment he used, the statement from Magidson said.

U.S. District Judge Gregg Costa, who presided at the trial, set sentencing for Nov. 13.
