Father of Chechen killed by FBI promised full investigation

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- The father of a Chechen man shot to death by the FBI in Florida said he is satisfied that a full investigation of the incident will be undertaken.

The Orlando area's top prosecutor has promised Abdulbaki Todashev he will find out why federal agents interrogating his 27-year-old son Ibragim shot him, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.

The elder Todashev met with Orange-Osceola State Attorney Jeff Ashton, who promised a full investigation but offered no timetable for its completion, his lawyer said.

Ibragim Todashev was being questioned outside his Orlando condo in May about his ties to Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev when the FBI said he initiated a violent confrontation.

The FBI initially said Todashev was armed and injured an agent during the altercation.

However, the Council of Islamic-American Relations in Tampa said Todashev did not have a deadly weapon at the time of the shooting.
