VERO BEACH, Fla., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- A young Florida woman charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl was jailed Friday amid allegations she has continued to contact the other teenager.
Kaitlyn Hunt, who recently turned 19, could face new charges, TCPalm.com reported Tuesday. Sgt. Thomas Raulen, a spokesman for the Indian River County Sheriff, said an agent with the bonding company who posted Hunt's bail turned her in.
A judge revoked Hunt's bail Tuesday, ruling she had "willfully" violated the terms of her release, CNN reported. Hunt was charged in February with lewd and lascivious battery of the 14-year-old.
William Korman, a Boston lawyer, said he offered to represent Hunt last week.
"The pendulum has swung too far," he said Tuesday. "Children are being prosecuted for being children."
Hunt and the teenager attended the same school, and Hunt says their relationship was consensual.
However, the 14-year-old is too young to consent legally to sex with someone five years older.
