ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, the U.S. Air Force's former head of sexual assault prevention, was indicted for assault, his sexual battery charge dropped.
Krusinski, 41, was arrested May 5 after he allegedly grabbed a woman's breasts and buttocks.
When he tried to grope her again, the woman fought him off and called police.
Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said the woman did not know Krusinski.
Arlington County Commonwealth's Attorney Theo Stamos said the woman's account didn't change, but prosecutors felt it was more likely Krusinski would be convicted of assault due to the way the sexual battery count is written, The Washington Post reported.
The assault charge doesn't require proof of sexual contact. Both charges are Class 1 misdemeanors.
Krusinski's trial date is set to be scheduled Thursday in Arlington County Circuit Court, the Post said.
