House ethics panel investigates four representatives

WASHINGTON, July 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. House Committee on Ethics announced Friday four House members, including Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., are under investigation.

The committee said it is also investigating Republican chief deputy whip Peter Roskam of Illinois and two Democrats -- John Tierney of Massachusetts and Tim Bishop of New York, Politico reported.

The panel said it is also investigating a 2008 trip to Turkey for congressional aides sponsored by the Turkish Coalition of America. After originally authorizing the trip, the committee disallowed it on the grounds the coalition employed a lobbyist.

Bachmann -- who ran for the Republican president nomination in 2012 and has announced she will not run for re-election in 2014 -- is under investigation for alleged campaign finance irregularities in 2012.
