Coroner: Crash victim killed by fire-fighting vehicle

SAN FRANCISCO, July 19 (UPI) -- One of three teenage girls killed in the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco left the plane alive and was killed by a fire vehicle, officials say.

A coroner determined the injuries responsible for the death of Ye Meng Yuan, 16, were caused by a vehicle, sources told the San Francisco Chronicle. Her body, covered in foam used to fight the fire, was discovered almost an hour after the crash on a path near the left wing of the plane.

Wang Lin Jia, Ye's friend, was found near the back of the plane. Liu Yi Peng, 15, the third fatality, was still in her seat and died six days later in a hospital.

Investigators are unsure if Ye left the plane on her feet or was thrown from it, the Chronicle reported. But the coroner determined any injuries she suffered during the crash were not severe enough to kill her.
