MIAMI BEACH, Fla., July 5 (UPI) -- Miami Beach, Fla., police say they arrested a suspect in a burglary case who not only admitted the theft but confessed to 13 other burglaries in the area.

Police questioned Dequan Johnson, 32, Thursday in a June 8 burglary at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa hotel in which $20,000 in cash, jewelry and electronics were stolen, WFOR-TV, Miami, reported Friday.

After he was arrested he confessed to the other burglaries, The Miami Herald said.

"He was proud of his accomplishments, to say the least," Vivian Hernandez of the Miami Beach Police Department said.

In 14 affidavits detailing the confession, a similar pattern emerges, Hernandez said.

"He had different encounters with the (hotel) maids or housekeepers. He would tell them, basically lie to them, that he was either staying in the room or the guests were relatives," she said.

Johnson was charged with 11 counts of burglary and 12 counts of grand theft, the newspaper said.
