CHALMETTE, La., July 3 (UPI) -- New Orleans rapper Flow has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and two counts of armed robbery, police in Louisiana said.

The 21-year-old performer, whose real name is Widner DeGruy, is accused of robbing two St. Bernard Parish men of cash and their cellphones, and of attempted murder of one of the men in late April, The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Wednesday.

DeGruy was arrested recently in the Oakland, Calif., area and was returned to Louisiana Thursday after waiving extradition, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff Jimmy Pohlman said Tuesday.

Authorities did not indicate a motive for the robbery and shootings and did not release the names of the victims, citing a fear of retaliation.

DeGruy performs with his band The Flames and has released several mix tapes. He was signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment label in 2012.
