WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi won't be sentenced this week as scheduled, court documents filed in Washington Monday showed.
No new sentencing date was set, the Chicago Tribune reported.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson (no relation) wrote that the sentencing, which had been set for Wednesday, was being changed to "accommodate the court and will be rescheduled in a separate order."
"The court notes that neither party has requested this postponement," she wrote.
The former Democratic congressman from Illinois and his wife could be sent to prison. He pleaded guilty to misusing $750,000 in campaign money. She admitted failing to report to the Internal Revenue Service about $600,000 of their income.
Bill Miller, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said sentencing of the couple would not take place this week.
"A new date for both of the Jacksons will be set later," he said
