75-year-old man survives small plane crash

POMPANO, Fla., June 21 (UPI) -- The 75-year-old pilot of a small plane that crashed in Florida early Friday was uninjured in the accident, officials said.

The plane crash-landed in an alley in Pompano, Fla., just before 6:25 a.m., the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

The pilot, who was the only person aboard the 2013 Beachcraft plane, was out of the plane and walking around when rescuers arrived, said Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King. He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries due to the crash were reported, however, the plane apparently took down powerlines as it crashed, knocking out power to nearby homes, officials said.

The cause of the crash was not reported.
