Woman stabbed to death on Walk of Fame for $1

HOLLYWOOD, June 20 (UPI) -- A homeless man allegedly stabbed a woman to death on Hollywood's Walk of Fame after she refused to give him $1 for a photo she snapped of his sign, police said.

Christine Darlene Calderon, 23, was walking down Hollywood Boulevard Tuesday with a co-worker when she stopped to take a photograph of some transients and signs they held asking for money with curse-words and a smiley face, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

One of the men demanded Calderon pay him $1 for the photograph, and when she refused two of the men allegedly pinned her co-worker to a wall while a third attacked Calderon, police said. The man allegedly stabbed Calderon in the midsection.

Calderon was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she died three hours later, the Times said.

Police said they arrested three men ages of 27 to 34, all described as transients.

Authorities said they believe one of the men frequented the Walk of Fame while the two others were from out of state.
