Man allegedly cuts off his hands after stabbing dad

REDDING, Calif., June 19 (UPI) -- A California man stabbed his father and then cut his own hands off with a radial saw, the Shasta County Sheriff's Department says.

The incident occurred Monday at the family's home in Redding, the sheriff's office said in a report. Deputies who responded to Gregory Dunn's home found the 59-year-old man lying in the driveway with multiple stab wounds while his son, Jason, 27, was standing nearby, both his hands severed at the wrist.

Jason Dunn allegedly attacked his father with a pair of scissors during an argument. After the stabbing, he went into the garage and severed his hands.

Both were hospitalized.

A neighbor, Gary Rinehard, told KRCR-TV, Redding, the Dunns were not sociable. He said he encountered Gary Dunn three or four times over eight years and the younger man only once, when he apologized to another neighbor for shooting a pellet gun toward his house.
