Man beaten, severely injured at Dodgers game, now cared for at home

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., June 13 (UPI) -- A man severely injured in a beating at a 2011 Los Angeles Dodgers game returned home after his insurance ceased paying rehab center charges, his family said.

Bryan Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan, suffered a fractured skull and permanent brain damage when he was assaulted in the Dodgers parking lot on Opening Day.

Stow was living at the Centre for Neuroskills in Bakersfield when the insurance company stopped paying for his stay at the facility, his family said on its website.

Stow, 44, who was a paramedic, is now living with his family in the Santa Cruz area.

"Let us clarify something very important: Bryan could have benefited greatly by staying at CNS longer," a family member wrote on the website, www.support4bryanstow.com. "We are so glad to have him home but as prepared as we thought we were it was a difficult transition."

Family members said Stow requires 24-hour nursing care that is not covered by insurance and the reduction in his therapy time has resulted in a physical setback.
