Parkinson's medication blamed for behavior of high school coach

QUINCY, Mass., June 11 (UPI) -- Medication for Parkinson's disease may have driven a Massachusetts high school track coach to kiss a female team member, his lawyer said.

Attorney Thomas D. Lawton told a Quincy District Court that Dale Snyder, 64, was taking medication that increased his libido and decreased his impulse control, The Boston Globe reported.

Snyder pleaded innocent to kissing a 16-year-old member of the Milton High School track team in his office on June 2nd.

He faces charges of one count of indecent assault and battery and two counts of assault and battery.

"As far as I can tell, he has 40 years of unblemished teaching as a sports coach, and nothing in the background at all. He's never been in court before," Lawton said.

Judge Mark Coven set bail at $10,000 for Snyder who is scheduled to retire later this month after 27 years in the Milton public schools.

Prosecutors had asked Judge Mark Coven to set bail at $25,000 and require Snyder to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, the Boston Herald reported.
