DAYTON, Ohio, June 10 (UPI) -- Police say an Ohio man was arrested after allegedly cutting off his baby's scalp while involved in a fight with its mother.
Kodi Weatherspoon was fighting with his 1-month-old child's mother in her Dayton home Wednesday and he was holding a knife, police said. He allegedly lunged at the woman, who was holding the couple's baby. Afterward, Weatherspoon called 911 and could be heard apologizing to the woman.
When police arrived, they found the woman with facial lacerations and the baby with its skull exposed and the scalp cut off, the Dayton Daily News reported Monday. Medics retrieved the scalp, packed it in ice and rushed the child to Children's Medical Center in Dayton. The mother was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
Weatherspoon was charged with aggravated felonious assault and endangering a child.
