Police said they were called to the scene by Cole's mother, who told police that her daughter became upset when her 9-month-old son returned home from a visit with his father.

Cole told the father that she no longer wanted to care for the child before grabbing the boy and exiting the residence, her mother told police.

Later, when Cole's mother asked where Cole put her son, Cole pointed to a garbage bin located behind the home, police said.

Cole's mother said she ran to the garbage can and found the boy, who was uninjured in the incident.

Cole was arrested and booked on one count of endangering the welfare of a minor, a class D felony.

A Department of Human Services emergency case worker is investigating to determine whether the infant and Cole's two other children should be removed from the home, officials said.
