Michigan judge faces misconduct charges for affair with litigant

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 22 (UPI) -- A Michigan judge accused of misconduct testified at a hearing he lusted after a woman who had a child support case before him.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Wade McCree told the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission his extramarital affair with Geniene La'Shay Mott "surprised and thrilled him," The Detroit News reported Wednesday.

The commission has charged McCree with misconduct for the way he handled Mott's support case while they were in a relationship.

"I wasn't keeping the case for illicit purposes," he testified. "Not to help out or hurt anyone."

On the second day of hearings, McCree said he ended a six-month affair with Mott in November 2012 when he could no longer meet her demands for his time and money.

He said she threatened to tell his wife and the media about their liaison.
