JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 20 (UPI) -- Arena Football League Coach Cedric Walker was arrested after an altercation with an opponent's team's executive in Jacksonville, Fla., court documents said.
The incident occurred Saturday after the SaberCats defeated the Jacksonville Sharks. Sharks assistant general manager Tim Johnson, 68, was allegedly pushed against the wall several times by SaberCats defensive coordinator Walker, 42, the Florida Times-Union reported.
The SaberCats said Sunday the incident was fueled by "alleged racial epithets directed at its coaches directed toward members of the SaberCats coaching staff by a front office official of the Sharks."
Sharks trainer Josh Gregoire told the Times-Union he grabbed the 6-foot, 245-pound Walker to assist Johnson. Johnson was released from a hospital after suffering a concussion and complaining of chest pains. Gregoire sustained a broken nose and cuts on his forehead after two SaberCats coaches allegedly punched him, the newspaper said.
Walker was arrested and charged with battery of a person 65 years or older, a felony, the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News reported Monday.
