Woman charged with high school beating sues school district

CINCINNATI, May 15 (UPI) -- A woman charged with beating a Cincinnati high school student in a classroom has sued the school system.

Precious Allen says the Cincinnati Public School District failed to protect her 14-year-old daughter from bullying, WKRC-TV reported. She also charges school officials deliberately destroyed a video that would have proved she is innocent of the charges against her.

She filed a lawsuit Tuesday in federal court. The Cincinnati Police Department is also named as a defendant.

Allen has been indicted on a misdemeanor assault charge and aggravated trespass. Police say she, her sister and her daughter assaulted a 15-year-old girl in a classroom at Withrow High School.

Allen denies the charge, saying the girl was the one who instigated the assault.
