PHOENIX, May 14 (UPI) -- Jodi Arias, the Arizona woman convicted of first-degree murder for the killing of her ex-boyfriend, has been taken off suicide watch, prison officials said.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Arias was transferred back to the all-female Estrella Jail Monday after doctors determined she no longer posed a threat to herself, The Arizona Republic reported.

Arias, 32, is housed in a cell alone.

She was placed under suicide watch soon after the guilty verdict last week for commenting during a television interview she would rather receive the death penalty than a sentence of life in prison.

Her trial is to resume Wednesday, when the jury will begin deliberating whether she deserves the death penalty in the death of ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

A jury found Arias guilty of premeditated murder in the stabbing and shooting death of her former lover.
