Earthquake hits northern California

EAST FOOTHILLS, Calif., May 10 (UPI) -- A 3.4-magnitude earthquake was reported 4 miles from East Foothills, Calif., the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The tremor occurred Thursday evening at 10:12 p.m., at a depth of 3.7 miles, the seismic monitoring agency stated.

The earthquake's epicenter was 4 miles from Alum Rock, 8 miles from San Jose and 84 miles from Sacramento.

In the last 10 days, there has been one other earthquake with a magnitude greater than 3 centered nearby, the Los Angeles Times said.
