LAS VEGAS, May 9 (UPI) -- Las Vegas prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty against a man accused of fatally shooting one person and causing a car crash that killed two others.
District Attorney Steve Wolfson filed the notice of intent to seek the death penalty against Ammar Harris after the Clark County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case, the Las Vegas Sun reported Wednesday.
Harris, 27, is accused of shooting into a car driven by Kenneth Cherry Jr. Feb. 21. Harris and Cherry were driving on the Las Vegas Strip at the time of the incident.
The shooting caused Cherry to lose control of his vehicle, run a red light and crash into a taxi, which exploded on impact.
Cherry, the driver of the cab, identified as Michael Boldon, and cab passenger Sandra Sutton-Wasmund died in the crash.
Freddy Walters, who was a passenger in Cherry's vehicle, was injured in the incident, but survived.
Harris has been charged with three first-degree murder and attempted murder.
