White supremacist gets life for killing convicted child molester

SACRAMENTO, May 4 (UPI) -- A white supremacist has been sentenced to life in prison in California for killing a convicted child molester.

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Sharon A. Lueras sentenced Charles Francis Gaskins, a 48-year-old member of the prison gang "Peckerwoods," Friday for killing Neil Lee Hayes, a 66-year-old convicted sex offender who was staying with Gaskins and his wife at their home in Carmichael in 2009, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Authorities said Gaskins was following the Peckerwoods' code, which required members to attack any white person with a history of child molestation, when he killed Hayes.

Gaskins' wife had learned Hayes was on the sex offenders registry and Gaskins beat Hayes to death with a rock, the Bee said.

Gaskins pleaded no contest to killing Hayes and his wife, Sandra Sheaves, 43, received an eight-year term after pleading no contest to accessory to murder.
