Two New York city-area homes overrun with over 100 cats each

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y., April 26 (UPI) -- Animal control officers in suburban New York City said they contended this week with incidents in two residences, each of which housed more than 100 cats.

In New Paltz, 80 miles north of New York city, ASPCA officials Wednesday removed 105 cats and kittens, most of them healthy, from a two-bedroom apartment in a building where pets are not allowed. The issue came to light after an Ulster County social worker visited the apartment on an unrelated matter, WNBC-TV, New York, reported.

Suffolk County police said they were called Friday to a previously condemned home in Central Islip on Long Island, and found over 100 cats occupying it.

Officials said there was urine, feces and garbage throughout the house.
