Suspect in girl's kidnap and rape arrested at Mexican rehab

LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- Police escorted a man suspected of kidnapping and raping a 10-year-old Los Angeles girl to the border Wednesday after arresting him at a rehab center in Mexico.

Tobias Dustin Summers, 32, was arrested at a drug and rehabilitation clinic in Las Misiones, a village 90 miles south of Tijuana, KNSD-TV, San Diego, reported. He was registered there under a false name.

State Police in Baja California got a tip from the FBI Tuesday night that Summers was there, the Los Angeles Times reported. They made the arrest Monday morning and then handed Summers over to the FBI at the border.

Alfredo Arenas, a commander with the state police, said the Superman tattoo on Summers' chest made him easy to identify.

"I'm very happy that we caught this trash," Arenas told the Times. "I always make a point to capture people that have sex with children. Because if given the opportunity, they will rape a Mexican child."

Summers, described as a career criminal, allegedly broke into a home in the Northridge section of Los Angeles March 27 and kidnapped the 10-year-old girl. She was found about 12 hours later in a parking lot.

An alleged confederate, Daniel Martinez, has been charged with kidnapping and burglary.
