NEW YORK, April 10 (UPI) -- A New York middle school teacher has been charged with having sex with a 14-year-old former student after inviting her to his home while his wife was out.
Daniel Reilly, 36, was arrested Monday after the alleged victim's sister learned of the affair, the New York Post reported. He was released on $30,000 bail posted by his wife Tuesday.
Reilly, an English teacher at an intermediate school in Queens, has been removed from the classroom until the charges are resolved, school officials said.
Sources told the Post Reilly began the relationship by sending sexual text messages to the girl after she was no longer his student. He allegedly continued to press for a sexual relationship.
Reilly, the father of an 11-month-old daughter, had sex with the girl on at least 10 occasions at his home. The sources said he would invite her there when his wife and the baby were elsewhere.
