3 dead, 1 critical in Maryland car crash

ODENTON, Md., March 31 (UPI) -- A car slammed into a light pole and two trees early Sunday in Maryland, killing three people and leaving a fourth critically injured, authorities said.

WTOP-FM, Washington, reported the crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. on a curve along a road in Anne Arundel County.

Police identified those killed as David Michael D'augustine, the driver, and two passengers, Samuel Carl Schindler and Katherine Marie Warrington, died. All three were 22 years old and from Odenton, Md.

The survivor is Michael Phillip, 23, of Gambrills, Md.

WUSA-TV, Washington, reported investigators said excessive speed was a factor in the accident, but had not determined whether alcohol was involved.
