Obama schedule for Thursday, March 28

WASHINGTON, March 28 (UPI) -- President Obama will urge Congress to act on measures to control gun violence Thursday during an event in the East Room, the White House said.

The daily schedule indicated Obama will:

-- Receive, with Vice President Joe Biden, the Presidential Daily Briefing.

-- Meet with senior advisers.

-- Call on Congress to enact legislation to control gun violence at an event in the East Room where he will joined by mothers, law enforcement officials, victims of gun violence and other stakeholders. Biden will also attend.

-- Welcome Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma, Senegal President Macky Sall, Malawi President Joyce Banda and Cape Verde Prime Minister Jose Maria Pereira Neves to the White House to discuss topics of mutual interest such as building on Africa's democratic progress to generate more economic opportunities and expand trade and investment.

-- Meet with Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry in the Oval Office.

-- Meet with Biden and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew in the Oval Office.
