SEAFORD, Del., March 22 (UPI) -- Two teenage girls in Delaware forced an 89-year-old woman who gave them a lift into her car trunk and imprisoned her there for two days, police said.
The woman was found Wednesday morning in a cemetery near Seaford, The (Wilmington) News Journal reported. Later that day, police arrested five teenagers in her car.
Junia McDonald, 14, and Jackeline H. Perez, 15, both of Milford in rural southern Delaware, have been charged with robbery, carjacking and kidnapping, police said. The two girls allegedly asked the victim for a lift at the Chicken Man Convenience Store in Milford and then, when they were in the car, demanded her keys.
Police said Perez took $500 from the victim's pocket.
Two 17-year-olds, Rondaiges A. Harper and Phillip L. Brewer, both from Bridgeville, were charged with receiving stolen property and kidnapping. Police said they joined Perez and McDonald Tuesday afternoon and spent the night with them at a Days Inn with the stolen Buick LeSabre parked outside.
A 15-year-old Bridgeville girl who was in the car with the other four when it was found has been charged with receiving stolen property.
State Police Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said the woman was kept in the trunk with no food or water through two cold nights. She was dumped in the cemetery late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
"She must have been a very strong woman to have endured being in a trunk for two days," Fournier said.
Relatives reported her missing Tuesday. She lived in Lincoln near Milford and about 20 miles north of where she was found.
The teens had been unable to make bail Thursday.
