Tampering charge in Pickens' death

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 12 (UPI) -- A Texas Christian University student was charged with evidence tampering in the death of T. Boone Pickens' grandson, court documents said.

Brennan Trainor Rodriguez, 21, is accused of removing evidence, which court documents identified as heroin, marijuana, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, from his apartment and hiding it from police, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.

Thomas "Ty" Boone Pickens IV, grandson of billionaire T. Boone Pickens and a TCU student, died Jan. 29 at Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth taken there after visiting the apartment.

A ruling on Pickens' death by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office was still pending.
