Denver gets only 4 inches of snow

DENVER, March 10 (UPI) -- Denver residents woke up Sunday to find only 4 inches of snow on the ground, instead of the double-digits that had been predicted, weather officials said.

Some forecasts called for as much of 18 inches of snow in Denver, and more than 600 flights were canceled at Denver International Airport, The Denver Post reported.

National Weather Service meteorologists said the temperature didn't get as low as expected, and much of the snow melted quickly.

Temperatures are now headed toward a high of 40 degrees, the Post reported, and so the 4 inches of snow will now melt quickly.

Normal operations at the airport resumed Sunday, but some delays were expected for deicing, the Post said.

Road conditions are mainly wet or dry, with only some icy spots.
