Philly doctor faces new rape charge

PHILADELPHIA, March 5 (UPI) -- A retired Philadelphia gynecologist charged with giving teens drugs and alcohol and raping a 16-year-old is being held on new charges, police said.

Tawfil Nakishbendi, 63, allegedly photographed a 28-year-old woman while she was drunk and drugged and sexually assaulted her, the Philadelphia Daily News reported. He was arrested last week after a search of his home and was being held without bail.

Investigators say Nakishbendi is not charged with intentionally giving the woman alcohol and drugs to get her to pass out. But he allegedly used her once she had become helpless.

Nakishbendi became known as the "sugar-daddy doctor" after his 2010 arrest on charges that are still pending. He allegedly threw parties for teenagers at his former home in Manayunk, a trendy Philadelphia neighborhood on the Schuylkill River, giving them liquor and drugs.
