NEW YORK, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said the United States is losing the cyberwar with the Chinese government.
"They use their military and intelligence structure to [steal] intellectual property from American businesses, and European businesses, and Asian businesses, repurpose it and then compete in the international market against the United States," Rogers said.
Roger's comments on ABC's "Meet the Press" came after a report was released last week that details the Chinese military cyberattacks on 140 U.S. targets, including companies involved in the critical infrastructure of the country.
Rogers said the report is just the tip of the iceberg, and the United States is likely receiving at least 140 attacks per day.
Rogers said the actions are unprecedented, and the situation is getting exponentially worse because there is no consequence or punishment for the actions.
Rep. Eliot Engle, D-N.Y., also on "Meet the Press" Sunday, said the United States must communicate with China that the attacks must stop and there must be a price to pay.
