JONESBORO, Ga., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A Georgia woman says it took her almost three weeks to learn of her son's death because police used a strange Facebook account to reach her.
Anna Lamb-Creasey told WSB-TV, Atlanta, she had no idea a message with the name "Misty Hancock" and a picture of the rap musician T.I. was from the Clayton County Police. By the time her daughter, who had received a similar message, decided to call the number in the message, Rickie Lamb, 30, had been dead for 20 days.
Lamb was killed Jan. 25, hit by a car as he crossed a street on foot.
Lamb-Creasey said she was told police had been trying to reach her and resorted to Facebook when nothing else worked.
"They told me that they did the best that they can do. But I'm not sure about that. Cause if they can track a criminal down, they couldn't track me down? They could have done better," she told WSB on Monday. "I've been on my job 13 years. They could have found me."
Police said they had been trying to get in touch with Lamb-Creasey. Officials are trying to determine why the message was sent from the "Misty Hancock" account.
