Child found in car after 100 mph chase

GRANDVIEW, Mo., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- A man faces possible child endangerment charges after he led Grandview, Mo., police on a 100 mph car chase with an unrestrained 2-year-old child in his car.

Grandview police said they chased the car early Sunday morning as it ran a red light at high speed, and later found it, rolling down a highway access road without a driver. When it stopped, a police officer found the vehicle occupied by a child in the back seat and not secured in a child's passenger safety seat.

The unnamed man, 23, later identified as the child's father, was hospitalized for hypothermia, and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said.

The child was placed in the custody of the state Division of Family Services.
