GOLDEN, Colo., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Eastern Siberia was shaken by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake Friday in an area about 540 miles northeast of the city of Yakutsk, officials say.
The quake occurred at 1:13 a.m. Thursday Eastern time, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor was recorded at a depth of 5.6 miles, USGS said.
No reports of damage or casualties were immediately available.
The event was 1,845 miles north-northeast of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and 242 miles east of Verkhoyansk, Russia.
