Man, 93, located 365 miles from home

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An elderly New Jersey man was located unharmed in Ohio 365 miles from his home after disappearing Thursday afternoon, police said.

The 93-year-old man -- whose name was not reported -- had spoken to family members Thursday morning and seemed fine. But after he left his home Thursday and failing to turn up at one of the handful of stores he sometimes frequents, police in Parsippany, N.J., sent out a "silver alert" seeking the public's help in locating him, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger said Saturday.

Police said with the anticipated blizzard-like conditions, and uncertainty as to whether the man had taken his medications, the situation could have been dire.

The man was located in Girard, Ohio, a nearly 6-hour drive from his home, after using a credit card at a gas station.
