Search for missing Texan scaled back

DENVER, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The search for a Texas man missing for four days in the Colorado Rockies was scaled back Monday because of the danger of avalanches, authorities said.

Troy Green, 39, of San Antonio hasn't been seen since Thursday afternoon when he was spotted in Rocky Mountain National Park by other visitors. Rangers found Green's rented sport utility vehicle in a parking lot in the park the next day when he was supposed to have attended a conference in Denver.

The San Antonio Express reported after search teams encountered deep snow and evidence of large slab avalanches, the decision was made to employ a small team of rangers who will focus on pockets of challenging terrain in the Bear Lake and lower Tyndall Gorge areas of the mountainous park.

The Denver Post reported dozens of ground searchers, aided by dog teams and aircraft, failed to find any sign of the missing man during the weekend.
