STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Convicted pedophile Jerry Sandusky is not entitled to a new trial, a judge in Pennsylvania ruled Wednesday.
Judge John Cleland rejected contentions by attorneys for Sandusky that they weren't given enough time to prepare for the former Penn State assistant football coach's trial last June, the Centre Daily Times reported.
Cleland also denied several other defense motions, including that he errantly allowed hearsay testimony from one Penn State janitor who told the court what another janitor had told him about Sandusky being in a shower with a young boy, newspaper said.
Sandusky, 68, is serving a 30- to- 60-year sentence in a state prison outside Waynesburg. He was convicted on 45 counts of child sexual abuse for molesting boys for years, sometimes on the Penn State campus. The scandal led to the ouster of highly successful head Coach Joe Paterno, who died of cancer just months after the scandal broke, and costly lawsuits and NCAA sanctions and against the school.
