NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A New Orleans street party ended in tragedy when one man was shot in the head and killed, and another in the neck, police said.
The street dance party dubbed "Conti Saturday" had about 150 attendees where a DJ spun hip hop from the bed of a pickup. Witnesses said around 8:40 p.m. a man in a black hooded sweatshirt walked up to the victim and, without exchanging any words, shot him in the head from close range. The man fell to the ground but was still alive so the shooter fired four more bullets into his chest.
Moments later the second man was shot farther down the block. It was unclear whether the same man was responsible for the second shooting. His condition was not known, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune said. No arrests have been made.
