Pediatrician found tied up and dead

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A Philadelphia doctor's body was found Monday tied up and burning in the basement of her row house, police said.

A dog walker made the grisly discovery in the early afternoon when she came to the house on a quiet block in Center City a few blocks south of Rittenhouse Square, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Investigators said the victim's hands were tied behind her and her feet were bound.

Police had not released the doctor's identity late Monday but said she was a pediatrician at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the country's top pediatric facilities.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said investigators were still trying to find out how the woman died.
