Chilly winds expected to sweep SoCal

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Folks in the inland regions of Southern California braced themselves against blustery Santa Ana winds Sunday, weather forecasters said.

The forecast called for winds around 50 mph with gusts up to 60 in the mountains and passes, high enough to knock down power lines and branches and require motorists to keep both hands on the wheel.

The conditions will likely exist into Tuesday, AccuWeather said.

The National Weather Service had wind warnings posted in addition to various cold-weather advisories that will add to the wind-chill.

The winds are not expected to create a significant risk of wildfires. AccuWeather said the region has received plenty of rain and snow in recent weeks.
