Okla. bomb suspect to get mental hearing

MIAMI, Okla., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma prosecutor said a mental evaluation for an Illinois man accused of planning to destroy 48 churches with Molotov cocktails is set for next week.

The Illinois suspect, Gregory Arthur Weiler II, 24, of Elk Grove Village, is charged in Ottawa County District Court with possession of an explosive or incendiary device, as well as violation of the Oklahoma Anti-Terrorism Act, the Tulsa (Okla.) World reported.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. Weiler is being held without bail.

Court records say Weiler was traveling in northeast Oklahoma when he checked into a Miami motel. A maintenance man looked in the motel's Dumpster and found a duffel bag with 50 Molotov cocktails inside and other explosive material, the report said.

The World reported Miami police said they found handwritten notes in the trash detailing how to make a Molotov cocktail and a list of 48 local churches. An affidavit said they also found a map of the churches in Weiler's motel room.
