Man shot, killed in Midtown Manhattan

NEW YORK, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles man visiting New York was shot in the back of the head execution style on a Midtown street just before 2 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police said Brandon Lincoln Woodard, 31, was shot and killed in broad daylight on 58th Street between Broadway and Seventh Avenue, with several witnesses shocked at the brazen attack, CBS-TV, New York, reported.

"It was one loud shot. We all flinched. We all looked down the block. We didn't see nobody running from the scene. It was like the guy never existed," witness Benny Harris told the TV station. "Whoever did it got away clean."

"No one saw the person that did it," another witness told CBS-TV. "Whoever did it ... he was a ghost."

Other witnesses said the suspect walked about 60 feet and got into a gray Lincoln MKZ, the New York Post reported.

Woodard, who had a criminal record, was pronounced dead on arrival at Roosevelt Hospital.

"The detectives are talking to potential witnesses and we're also looking at video. But right now, the only description we have is a male black, undetermined age, with a black coat and hood with khaki pants. But we're continuing to canvass for more witnesses and videos in the hopes of identifying the shooter," NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne told CBS.
