Four guilty in Detroit killings

DETROIT, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Four men were found guilty in a Detroit court in the deaths of two women abducted from their home in February.

Abreeya Brown, 18, and Ashley Conaway, 22, were kidnapped outside their Hamtramck, Mich., home after a shootout between the kidnappers and Abreeya Brown's stepfather. The women were found nearly a month later in a shallow grave in a Detroit park, each shot in the head with their mouths, legs and hands bound with duct tape, The Detroit News reported Tuesday.

Verdicts read Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court found alleged ringleader Brandon Cain and Jeremy Brown guilty of first-degree murder and other felonies, Reginald Brown guilty of first-degree murder in Conaway's death and second-degree murder in Abreeya Brown's, and Brian Lee convicted of second-degree murder.

Judge Vonda Evans' courtroom was crowded with extra security and family members of the defendants and victims, the newspaper said, adding sentencing for the defendants would be Dec. 21.
