UPS plane makes emergency landing

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Smoke in the cockpit caused the pilots of a UPS plane to make an emergency landing at a Kentucky airport, a company spokesman said.

The plane took off from Louisville, Ky., bound for Houston, UPS spokesman Mike Mangeot said. An undetermined amount of time after the 8:50 p.m. Tuesday take-off, pilots smelled the smoke and turned around. Emergency crews were assembled on the tarmac, but were not needed, The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal reported Wednesday.
